Rhode Island (RI) State Flag
The 13th state, admitted 1790
In 1647, the four original towns of Rhode Island RI- Providence, Warwick, Portsmouth, and Newport, united under one charter and adopted the anchor as their official seal. Some say the anchor stands for the new colony. On the white field of the flag this anchor is surrounded by 13 gold stars, representing the first thirteen colonies.
