Rhode Island Reg. Flag, 3' x 5' Nylon

The flag of Rhode Island was adopted in 1897 and includes an anchor and the word "Hope". The seal's words and emblem were most likely inspired by the biblical phrase, "hope we have as an anchor of the soul". The earliest colonists in Rhode Island were fleeing religious persecution.
